TAP for Bristol marks World Homeless Day with £10,000 in new grants to local charities

Creative Youth Network (CYN) and Ara Recovery for All (Ara) have both received funding

10/10/2025

In recognition of World Homeless Day today, TAP for Bristol has awarded £10,000 in new funding to two local charities working to prevent homelessness and support recovery across the city: Creative Youth Network (CYN) and Ara Recovery for All (Ara).

Launched in 2019 as a collaboration between Bristol City Centre BID and Caring in Bristol, with additional support from Redcliffe & Temple BID since 2023, TAP for Bristol has raised over £160,000 to date. Donations are made via TAP donation points in city centre businesses or online through its JustGiving page, with 100% of proceeds going to frontline homelessness services.

Targeted grants supporting prevention and recovery

Each charity will receive a £5,000 grant to continue and expand their vital work:

Creative Youth Network will use the funding to extend welcome sessions at The Station, its city-centre youth hub. These sessions offer emergency support and hardship assistance to young asylum seekers and refugees – helping them avoid homelessness and feel safe as they begin building new lives in Bristol.

Ara, which has supported vulnerable people in Bristol for over 37 years, will use the grant to provide essential household items for individuals transitioning from supported housing to independent accommodation. This not only helps new tenants settle into their homes, but also frees up more supported housing spaces for others in need.

In addition to these new grants, TAP for Bristol continues to donate 50% of its total funding to Caring in Bristol’s Z House project - a supported housing initiative offering accommodation and wraparound care for 18-25-year-olds at risk of homelessness in the city centre. Quartet Community Foundation manages the donations and grants made through the scheme, ensuring funds are directed to where they're needed most.

Ongoing commitment to young people at risk
