Redcliffe and Temple BID's Cleansing Team is out seven days a week improving.
Richard and Martin are our dedicated cleansing operatives who drive a specialist electric pump van equipped to jet wash pavements and remove graffiti. They work weekday mornings.
Tony (temporary cover) drives our scrub deck machine, which is shared across the 3 central Bristol BIDs. This machine works closely with the pump vans sucking up wastewater left on the street after a jet wash and removes debris and small bits of litter. This machine operates weekday mornings.
Between them, the team work five days a week to improve the appearance of our city’s streets and respond to requests for cleansing and graffiti removal from the businesses. We operate in close partnership with Bristol Waste Company.
This is a service offered to levy-paying businesses who can request the following services:
– Jetwash or deep clean outside your business premises
– Jetwash or deep clean of doorways
– Graffiti removal from your business. Please note we can only remove graffiti that is up to head height, on street level, that can be accessed by our vans.
If you would like to request one of these services, please contact cleansing@redcliffeandtemplebid.co.uk with a photo clearly showing the location and scope of the work. We will respond efficiently to each request and arrange a time for the team to visit you.
Please note, some tags are applied in ways that make it very challenging to remove, depending on the surface material or chemical used in the paint or marker. As a result, we are not able to remove to every instance of tagging.
If your building has been tagged, we strongly encourage you to report this to the Police as criminal damage. If you have CCTV footage, please include this in your report. The more reports the police receive, the more they understand the issue of graffiti in the city centre and can respond accordingly.

Throughout March, the team covered 311 miles on their weekly cleansing rounds across Victoria Street, Portwall Lane, and Temple Bridge underpass and other BID area hotspots. Deep clean locations were Broad Plain, St Thomas Street and Redcliffe Hill, as they managed to remove 121 items of graffiti from businesses and street furniture, responding to 3 levy payer requests along the way.
Across 2024, our wonderful team removed 1,771 items of graffiti, cleaned 3,432 miles of pavement and responded to 54 levy payer requests.
