Bristol’s favourite ‘Site Specific Theatre Masters’ (Bristol 24/7) Insane Root make their joyful return in 2025, with a thrilling and unique all-female/non-binary version of Shakespeare’s Henry V specifically created for Bristol’s iconic Temple Church, a haunting, bombed-out mediaeval ruin.

Bursting with original songs from acclaimed composer Ellian Showering (Rumpelstiltskin, The Tempest, Hansel & Gretel) and directed by Natalie Simone (nominated for Best Director in the Off West End Awards for The Ugly One), this visceral production will linger in your imaginations for years to come.

Beyond the stage and with funding support from The Nisbet Trust, the project will deepen community links in the underused historic site of Temple Church via a 6-week summer programme of 20+ additional daytime and evening activities, including free and accessible drama and art group sessions, theatre scratch nights, history tours, outdoor yoga, beauty and wellbeing workshops and much more.

“This is Shakespeare at its best: involved, atmospheric, and understood.” Bristol 24/7 on Macbeth

Produced with support from ARTS COUNCIL ENGLAND, ENGLISH HERITAGE, REDCLIFFE & TEMPLE  BID, DANDARA LIVING & THE NISBET TRUST.
