Shakespeare’s Women – Actors’ Workshop

Temple Church

Shakespeare writes for Women, believes in women and often makes them the hero of the story

Shakespeare writes for Women, believes in women and often makes them the hero of the story.

In this workshop Actors’ Workshop will explore some of Shakespeare’s strongest women: Portia, Rosalind and Viola, as they take a huge risk in society to buck the norm and dress as a man to enable them to speak freely and drive the narrative they have been deprived of as a woman in society.

Come play, explore and see how heroic and powerful Shakespeare’s writing for women is!

The Actors’ Workshop Bristol has built a unique reputation for teaching and performing Shakespeare – it lies at the very heart of our work. All students receive extensive training in classical verse.

This event is part of the community programme running alongside Insane Root’s production of Henry V at Temple Church, running 19 June – 2 August.

This event is brought to the Temple Church by Insane Root Theatre CIO and is supported with funding by The Nisbet Trust.
