Bristol Amphitheatre to host official Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 Fan Zone

Free city-centre celebration of women’s sport, community spirit and cultural pride will show six knockout games hosted at Ashton Gate Stadium

25/07/2025

Bristol’s Harbourside is set to become the beating heart of World Cup fever this September as the city delivers an official Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 Fan Zone. Taking place at the Bristol Amphitheatre, the free-to-enter event will coincide with the city hosting two quarter-finals and both semi-final matches at Ashton Gate Stadium, and promises a unique mix of live sport, entertainment, local food and community celebration.

The Bristol Fan Zone is being delivered by Bristol City Centre BID and will run across two action-packed weekends: Saturday 13 and Sunday 14, followed by Friday 19 and Saturday 20 September 2025 – aligning with the knockout fixtures at Ashton Gate. The Harbourside location will be transformed into a vibrant, festival-style destination where fans, families, residents and visitors can gather to celebrate the tournament and immerse themselves in the atmosphere.

At the heart of the Fan Zone, a large screen will broadcast all four of the tournament’s quarter-final matches live, as well as the semi-finals the following weekend, all surrounded by a full programme of entertainment.

The Fan Zone is a great way for those visiting the city to experience an iconic Bristol location and to start warming up ahead of the games in Ashton Gate, for both ticket and non-ticket holders. Attendees can expect a dynamic mix of live music, cultural performances, creative workshops, sporting challenges and food and drink from some of Bristol’s best-loved independent traders.

Delivered in partnership with Visit West, Bristol City Centre BID, Bristol City Council, West of England Combined Authority, Broadmead BID, Redcliffe & Temple BID and a host of local businesses, the Fan Zone will showcase the city’s commitment to inclusion, sport and culture.

Vicky Lee, Director of Bristol City Centre BID, said:

“Hosting the games in the city is a fantastic way of inviting new audiences to experience Bristol and support our many local businesses. Having a city centre Fan Zone will drive footfall into hospitality and leisure venues over the weekends, with circa 100,000 additional visitors arriving into the city across the two weekends, many of whom will be staying in the city. The fan zone will be a showcase for our city on a national stage so a brilliant opportunity for all involved.”

Sabrina Shutter, Project Events Manager at Bristol City Centre BID, said the event is a powerful example of the city’s collaborative spirit:

“This is a city-wide celebration of women’s sport and community pride. We’re incredibly proud of the number of local businesses that are getting behind the Fan Zone, from traders and artists to cultural partners and venues. Their support is helping us deliver something truly memorable for Bristol.”

Organised as part of a series of official Fan Zones taking place in host cities across the UK, the Bristol site will be carefully curated to create a warm and inclusive welcome for all. Visitors will be able to enjoy a journey through themed areas that encourage play, participation and pride. From family-friendly crafting spaces where supporters can create signs and flags, to hands-on rugby challenges and community showcases featuring local clubs and charities, every element has been designed to reflect Bristol’s energy and character.

The Fan Zone will also include a celebration of Bristol’s cultural identity, with installations, interactive experiences and public artwork. Visual artworks will include large-scale creations from Bristol-based robotics studio Air Giants, with local MCs including former England international Amber Reed and Welsh rising star Jenna De Vera hosting the event and engaging with crowds throughout the match days.

Kathryn Davis, CEO of Visit West, believes the Fan Zone presents a significant opportunity to showcase Bristol’s cultural strengths:

“Hosting the Women’s Rugby World Cup and delivering a very Bristol Fan Zone is a brilliant opportunity to create a family friendly festival vibe, celebrating our city as we welcome visitors from across the country, and the world. With thousands of visitors expected to enjoy both the matches and the Fan Zone experience, this is how sport’s cultural strengths can create a lasting impact in inspiring the next generation of female athletes, while boosting the region’s visitor economy, promoting Bristol’s creativity and hospitality, and inspiring people to make return visits.”

Bristol’s Fan Zone will be designed with accessibility and connectivity in mind, offering a scenic walking route linking the Harbourside to Ashton Gate Stadium via key city landmarks, as well as special ferry services connecting Temple Meads station to the Amphitheatre. The goal is to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for everyone visiting the city during the tournament.

Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 Managing Director, Sarah Massey, said:

“We’re incredibly excited to confirm the Fan Zones that will bring the tournament to life across England. Whether you are a lifelong rugby fan or discovering the sport for the first time, the Fan Zones will offer something for everyone. We want everyone to feel the energy of this tournament and to give fans, local communities and visitors the chance to engage, celebrate and be a part of this unmissable moment for women’s rugby.”

The Bristol Fan Zone promises to be a highlight of the city’s 2025 events calendar, combining the thrill of international sport with local energy, creativity and heart. It also forms part of the wider strategic vision of Bristol City Centre BID to invest in placemaking, culture and inclusive experiences that benefit local businesses and the community alike.
