The Changes Surrounding Temple Meads

Welcoming changes to business and living areas surrounding Temple Meads.

19/10/2022

Over the past 5 years, enormous change and growth has developed in BS2, with a variety of new businesses, offices and residential infrastructure popping up around Bristol’s infamous train station. Independent businesses such as the recently opened The Dings Deli, Future Doughnuts, Little Martha Brewing, and The Pasty Emporium are situated along Oxford Street in the historic archways, providing something for everyone within a short stroll from Meads Reach Bridge.

This area also welcomed a Sainsbury’s on Avon Street this year to provide a convenient place for local residents to pick up their shopping, seven days a week. This helps to provide office workers with another place to grab lunches and has introduced 21 new job roles within the local area. Development like this, helps to rejuvenate the feel of the area, making it unrecognisable as the years go by.

Tom Swithinbank, Project Manager at Redcliffe & Temple BID

This area has changed so much in the last two years with the addition of new residential flats and office blocks with many more to follow. These developments have enabled small, independent businesses to open, growing the offer for those living, working and visiting the area. We continue to offer our support to businesses opening in Redcliffe and Temple and the growing sense of community in the area.

Coffee and baked-good experts, Mokoko have opened their fifth location and second central Bristol venue on New Kingsley Road by Box Makers Yard, with seasonally sourced ingredients, providing locals with a welcoming setting to catch up with friends and colleagues. The appearance of businesses such as these highlight the talent that local organisations have and the support they have behind them, when they are able to open multiple branches; keeping Bristol’s best business, across Bristol!

Alongside of new businesses, new green space has also been introduced into the area, with The Distillery office space on Avon Street offering a park area and green foliage wall for all to use. This has created a small park area, that otherwise might have been developed on and helps to open the city landscape, allowing visitors to escape into nature.

The changes in the area have also instilled a new sense of community, with charity projects such as our TAP for homelessness prevention points at Little Martha and Small Goods raising over £500 each. This is a tremendous amount and we are so appreciative for the support, from both the donators and the TAP point hosts.
