City Nature Challenge

Bristol and Bath

An epic global science project to collect information about our local wildlife.

Book a city nature walk

We’re partnering with the Natural History Consortium and Wessex Water for this year’s Bristol and Bath City Nature Challenge. Join residents across the West of England in an epic, global mission to record as much wildlife as possible between Friday 29 April – Monday 2 May.

We’re inviting everyone to share their wildlife sightings from windows, gardens, or local parks – wherever you are. You don’t have to be an expert to take part! Just download the free iNaturalist app, take a picture of what you find, upload – and share.

Your observations will support local conservation efforts and inform plans for tackling the ecological emergency in the region.

Come along to one of our City Nature Challenge hubs, at Queen Square on Friday 29 April or Castle Park on Saturday 30 April, to learn how to use iNaturalist or join a free guided nature walk to practice your wildlife recording skills.

Nature walks will start from the hubs, will be 30-45 minutes long, and must be booked in advance.
