Join the Reusable Revolution: Redcliffe & Temple BID Support City to Sea’s Refill Return Cup Initiative

Groundbreaking Refill Return Cup project launching on World Refill Day, June 16.

30/05/2023

Redcliffe & Temple BID are proud to support City to Sea‘s groundbreaking Refill Return Cup project launched on World Refill Day,  June 16.

City to Sea, headquartered in Bristol, has taken the lead in trialling the innovative Refill Return Cup in a selection of independent coffee shops throughout the city. This groundbreaking project enables Bristolians to enjoy their favourite takeaway tea or coffee in a reusable cup, which they can conveniently borrow from participating coffee shops free of charge. Furthermore, they can return the cup to any other participating outlet across Bristol.

To make the borrowing process even more accessible, City to Sea has integrated their award-winning Refill app into the initiative. The new and improved Refill app will be released for World Refill Day, allowing residents and visitors of Bristol to borrow the Refill Return Cup and track their plastic reduction impact. This exciting feature aims to encourage individuals to actively participate in reducing single-use cup waste in Bristol, ultimately saving thousands of cups from ending up in landfills, incinerators, or worse, polluting our city, waterways, and green spaces.

City to Sea is actively seeking additional coffee shops to join the pilot program, extending the reach and impact of this eco-friendly project. They are encouraging businesses to back the initiative by urging their employees to participate and experience the benefits firsthand. By embracing the Refill Return Cup project, coffee shops have the opportunity to contribute to a greener future while attracting environmentally conscious customers.

The Refill Return Cup project presents a unique chance for businesses and individuals alike to make a meaningful difference in reducing plastic pollution. Companies that wish to support this project and become part of the solution are encouraged to contact George Clark to express their interest and learn more about the pilot program.

Redcliffe and Temple BID are excited to support City to Sea’s vision, fostering sustainable practices within the local community. By collectively working together, Bristolians can create a cleaner and greener city for future generations to enjoy. Together, we can make a significant impact and lead the way in combating plastic pollution.

We're delighted to support the launch of the Refill Return Cup initiative in Bristol. It has the potential to be a game-changer in waste reduction in the takeaway economy. Our levy payers and their staff are keen to reduce waste, so we are grateful to City to Sea for enabling people to reduce waste while enjoying a coffee from their favourite coffee shop.
