Public Realm Working Group

Our first working group meeting, Tuesday 19 July 2022.

20/07/2022

On Tuesday 19 July we were delighted to host the first meeting of our Public Realm Working Group at Clockwise on Counterslip. Thank you Clockwise for kindly hosting the meeting.

During the meeting BID Project Manager, Tom Swithinbank, gave updates on our progress so far and detailed the 12 key projects from our Green Infrastructure Action Plan.

Working Group members, which include representatives from Bristol City Council, WSP, Arcadis, Barclays, Ecosurety, St Mary Redcliffe Church and Bristol Disability Forum, gave their feedback on the planned projects and offered advice on how to progress these plans.

Tom also detailed the BIDs three ambitious Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding applications for Temple Gardens, Portwall Lane Open Space and Temple Way Underpass. Decisions by councillors on the progress of these funding applications are due in August 2022.

During the meeting the group agreed that the key role of the Working Group would be to hold the BID to account regarding Public Realm projects as well as offering constructive feedback and guidance where appropriate. Opportunities for Working Group members (or their colleagues) to dedicate further voluntary time to projects may arise in due course.

If you would like to know more about our work or join the Working Group please contact Tom Swithinbank.
